Pastor Steve

A native of New Jersey and a believing Christian from his youth, the Rev. Stephen P. Fritz graduated from Rutgers University in 1982 (B.A. Psychology), going on to earn his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University two years later.

Prior to his call to serve the church full time as a Minister of the Word and Sacrament within the PCUSA, he worked in special education, geriatric care, and the court system as a probation officer.

In 1989 he received his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and began his first pastorate at Providence Presbyterian Church in Burlington (Florence Twp.), New Jersey. Moving to Mineral County, West Virginia during the "blizzard of 1996", Steve served as Pastor of Keyser Presbyterian Church for 4 1/2 years before his call to Wayside.

Pastor Steve began his ministry with Wayside on July 1, 2000 eager to share his faith, enthusiasm, and years of pastoral experience with a people known for their warmth, vision, and love for the Lord. As a sign of his commitment to the growth and future of Wayside Church, he and his wife, Meg, recently built a home with his parents in West Hempfield Township, where they live together with their three teenage children - daughter Sarah, and twin sons Brian and Andrew.

Pastor Steve joins the entire Wayside congregation in an open-arms invitation to come and grow in Christ with us!
